BBC London asks can Londoners find a home for SS Robin?

There has been a tremendous response from Londoners following BBC London's special programme on SS Robin as part of BBC London's River Thames Week.

The story of historic ship SS Robin - London's most important London-built ship - built in east London in 1890 has captured Londoners who are emailing the BBC to offer their views of where in London this historic ship should be moored.

A symbol of London's industrial heritage as a major port city the ship, which has been undergoing extensive conservation works for the last two years, is due to return to London next month.

BBC London is running a campaign which asks Londoners their opinion on the appropriate mooring for the newly restored vessel.

There are several options which viewers are being asked to comment on - all are linked to the River Thames and London, where SS Robin was built, and include:

Wapping
Temple Stairs, Victoria Embankment
Bankside
Swan Lane (London Bridge)
Tower Pier

If you missed the piece, which was broadcast live from HMS Belfast on August 11th, 2010, then you can watch it here.

Yesterday viewers, who had submitted comments, were interviewed on BBC London News.

There's still time to have your say. Let the BBC know where you think SS Robin's new London River Thames home should be - send your email to yourlondon@bbc.co.uk.
