Our Industrial Heritage AT RISK

The UK is steeped in industrial heritage, mills, mines, glassworks, bridges, ports, docks, historic ships - all the sorts of sites and buildings which, for the most part, are our collective industrial heritage.

Much of it is at risk of neglect, decay and demolition.

English Heritage recently announced its intention to research our industrial heritage over the next few months and evaluate just how much of it is at risk.

The project is seeking public opinion of the UK's industrial heritage and how this country's industrial past can be saved for future generations.

The research will focus on the visible reminders of the Industrial Revolution and the period of British history which shaped much of our present economic and social lives.

Chief Executive of English Heritage, Dr Simon Thurley said "Our industrial past is too important to ignore".

To take actively take part post pictures of your favourite industrial heritage or highlight industrial heritage at risk to the EH Flickr Group.
